Smart Gateway

Smart Gateway Overview

Smart Gateway is the most economical and efficient solution for relaying the value you want to read from the device, middleware integrated gateway package software, and transmitting the value you need to the device without understanding the protocols applied to the device you want to connect to.

Smart Gateway Feature

1. Perceived ease of use It is composed of subminiature hardware, making it easy to install on site, and provides a web-based interface that allows you to easily set up the functions you need.

2. Expandability Designed to run reliably on Linux-based platforms and designed with a plug-in modular architecture, it is highly scalable.

3. Economic Feasibility Even if the facility to be connected is configured one-to-many, protocol conversion is possible, so the system can be built economically.

4. Stability The software module is designed to be independent and has good stability as it does not affect other modules in the event of an abnormality in one module in operation.

5. Diversity In addition to standard protocols such as OPCUA and Modbus, it can be connected to PLC, measurement equipment, sensors, etc., so it can be applied to various sites.

Javascript Based

Smart Gateway can use JavaScript to set up communication drivers and collection items. You can define the collection cycle and collection items according to the communication characteristics of the device you want to connect to Various computational operations between data can reproduce the data required by higher systems.
If you want to collect Modbus/RTU equipment using Modbus/TCP, you can enter line 3 of JavaScript code to connect and collect data. In addition to the built-in functions provided by JavaScript, we provide separate functions for unit transformation, normalization processing, etc. on collected values, facilitating data integration with other systems. For equipment that transmits values between 0 and 100 degrees from 0 to 65535, a normalization process is required, and smart gateways provide a function for normalization.

Web-based settings

Smart Gateway has a built-in web server, allowing you to work on operational status monitoring, collection items monitoring, and JavaScript setting using a web browser without installing a separate program. Using the web-based JavaScript editing function, you can set up communication drivers, set up communication items, and convert data.

Smart Gateway Application

Smart Gateway is the best solution for data exchange between heterogeneous devices, serving as protocol conversion, network isolation, network supplementation, and data hub.
Protocol Converter It can be used as a protocol converter for communication between different protocols.
It provides the protocol conversion of Ethernet-Ethernet, serial-serial sections, as well as the media conversion of Ethernet-serial sections.
Protocol Hub It supports one-to-one protocol conversion as well as one-to-many connections, so it performs the function of a protocol hub that converts different protocols into one.
For example, various PLC data can be integrated and converted into OPC UA standard protocols.
Network Bridge(address conversion) Smart gateways provide a network address conversion function, enabling linkage between facilities with the same network address.
Separate network equipment for network address conversion is not required to link facilities with the same network address.
Network Isolation Smart gateways can only allow allowed protocol messages to pass through, allowing for logical network separation configurations.
Network separation functions can be implemented economically and effectively than using general network facilities for network separation.
Network Complementation Using the smart gateway's network separation function and media converter function, it can be used as equipment for network security between the business (IT) network and the factory (OT) network. In the case of traditional network security equipment, message delivery is determined based on port number, but smart gateways deliver messages based on protocol, allowing more detailed security technology to be applied than port-by-port blocking technology.

Smart Gateway Redundancy Configuration

Smart Gateway can be configured in an active-standby manner to support stable data connection, automatically detecting and cutting data connection in the event of abnormalities in communication lines, gateways, and facilities to be connected.
  • System Redundancy - initial state Only one of the two Smart Gateway will collect data in conjunction with the equipment
  • System Redundancy - The first Smart Gateway failure occurs If one of the two Smart Gateway fails, the data is collected through the next smart gateways that are on standby. After that, when the first Smart Gateway is restored, it reactivated and communication resumes.
  • Network Redundancy - First PLC failure If an error occurs in one of the two PLCs, data is collected in connection with the waiting PLC. After that, when the failure is recovered, data is collected through communication with the first PLC.
  • Network Redundancy - Network Equipment Malfunction If the first Smart Gateway cannot be connected to the PLC due to an abnormality in network equipment, the second Smart Gateway on standby is activated and communication with the PLC is initiated to collect data.

Smart Gateway application

Connect status monitoring system -Collect data from the Bentley Nevada Vibration System in an OPCA manner, convert it to Modbus/RTU, and transfer it to the iFix SCADA system
-Smart Gateway and SCADA System are connected by Serial Cable for network separation between the Vibration System and the SCAD System
BEMS(Building Energy Management System) Connection -Application of BACnet/IP protocol for connection with BEMS system
-Application of MQTTS for Microsoft's interworking with Azure
Thermal power plant linkage -Application of GSM protocol of GE company for connection with GE turbine power generation facility
-Linkage using PLC protocol provided by each facility for connection with utility facilities
Electric Power Exchange linkage(Korea) -In connection with the Electric Power Exchange, process control orders from the Electric Power Exchange or transmit status information in real time
-Configured to traverse a dedicated line modem and associated using the DNP v3.0 protocol
Electric Power Exchange linkage(Middle East, Southeast Asia) -In connection with the Electric Power Exchange, process control orders from the Electric Power Exchange or transmit status information in real time
